Case #1: The Tiedjen Rediscovery
It began with a painting in a small German antique shop and the name of an artist. The search uncovered exhibition records, newspaper articles, family documents, photographs, and surviving paintings, and eventually revealed the story of Willy and Fanny Tiedjen-Bieber, two artists whose lives and work were scattered by war when Munich was bombed during WWII and they were forced to flee.

The Soldier Whose Life Went To Auction
Photographs, documents, and military papers survived together, but the soldier’s full story had been lost to history... until it was rescued at auction. Can we reconstruct his life story?

Antique Investigations began with one old painting and a name that had nearly disappeared from history. It made me think of all the antique items out there that are on the cusp of being lost to time forever.
I created this site to document the research, share the evidence, and invite others to help recover the lives behind the forgotten antiques. This is not an appraisal service or an academic institution. It is a hobby website for careful, evidence-led efforts to preserve stories that might otherwise be lost.
